Documents we translate

  • Birth, marriage and divorce certificates
  • Passports, national ID cards and family records
  • Police clearance certificates
  • Diplomas, degrees and academic transcripts (see academic translation)
  • Driver's licences
  • Court judgments, custody and adoption papers
  • Employment letters, bank statements and other supporting documents

What IRCC asks for

When a document for an IRCC application is not in English or French, IRCC asks for a translation together with a copy of the original document.

A translation by a certified translator who is a member in good standing of a Canadian provincial association, such as ATIO, does not need a separate affidavit from the translator.

Requirements can differ between applications, so always follow the document checklist for your own application on the Government of Canada website.

Driver's licence translation, accepted by DriveTest Centres

One of the most common reasons clients come to us is exchanging an Arabic driver's licence for an Ontario licence. Our certified Arabic to English translations of driver's licences are accepted by DriveTest Centres.

Bring your original licence together with our certified translation, and check DriveTest's current list of required documents before your visit.

Other uses for a certified translation

Certified translations are also needed by provincial offices, courts, universities, professional regulators and employers. If you are not sure what the receiving office accepts, ask them before you order, or call us and we will help you check.

Applying to a Canadian university or college, or having your degree evaluated by WES or ICAS? See certified translation of diplomas and transcripts.

Clients in Gatineau and Quebec

We serve clients in Gatineau. Our translations are certified by ATIO-certified translators in Ontario. Some Quebec offices ask for a translation by a member of the Quebec order (OTTIAQ), so please confirm with the receiving office first.
